Apprenticeships in Active Leisure and Learning

These exciting Apprenticeship programmes give individuals the opportunity to obtain important nationally recognised sports based vocational qualifications plus work based experience within the Sports Coaching and Leadership sector. The mandatory components of the Apprenticeship are

1. NVQ 2 Activity Leadership – this includes:

              Prepare an activity session

• Lead the session
• Conclude and review the session
• Promote safety within the sports environment
• Contribute to the work of your team
• Set up equipment
• Maintain equipment

2. Level 2 Certificate in Industry and Organisation Awareness
This mandatory qualification provides learners with appropriate understanding of employment rights and responsibilities plus information on where their own organisation sits within the Active Leisure and Learning sector.

3. Application of Number and Communication Level 1
These important Key skills are mandatory for all who do not have GCSE Maths or English at grades A to C.

In addition to the above mandatory elements learners must complete further qualifications known as Technical Certificates. SR Education offers candidates the following 3 options which include both level 2 and level 3 qualifications.

Technical Certificate

Option 1

The 1st4sport Level 2 Certificate in Coaching Studies – this includes:

• Safety and ethics in sports coaching
• Support coaching using sports science
• Plan for coaching
• Deliver and review coaching

Plus one Sports National Governing Body Level 1 Sports Coaching Certificate

Option 2

The BTEC First Diploma in Sport  (Level 2) – this includes:

• The body in sport
• Health and safety
• Preparation for sport
• Practical sport
• Plan and lead sport activities
• Work based project

Plus one National Governing Body Level 1 Sports Coaching Certificate

Option 3

The BTEC National Award in Sport (Level 3) – this includes:

• The body In action
• Health and safety
• Training and fitness for sport
• Fitness testing
• Sports coaching
• Practical team sports
